From the Caribbean Sea to the  Pacific Ocean

Honduras – El Salvador

The tour takes you from the white sandy beaches of the Caribbean Sea in Honduras to the black volcanic beaches of the Pacific Ocean in El Salvador.

Day 01: Arrival in San Pedro Sula ( Honduras )
Arrival at the airport and transfer to your hotel in town. Greeting by our tourguide and briefing of the motorcycle tour. Overnight in San Pedro Sula.

Day 02: Ride to La Ceiba / Rio Cangrejal     
After handing over the motorcycles in the morning we start riding towards the Caribbean coast to a small porttown called Tela. . After lunch we take a short ride from La Ceiba into the „Pico Bonito” National Park to an impossibly green canyon with jungle scenery . We follow a winding dirt road along the Rio Cangrejal. This trip offers spectacular views: a waterfall plunging more than 300 feet from the canyon walls and rapids sliding around sculptured granite boulders.  Overnight in a jungle lodge inside the National Park Pico Bonito.

Day 03:  La Ceiba – Trujillo                                    
For a while we stay on the highway to Trujillo before we turn off passing vast banana plantations.  We continue on a dirt road until we meet the highway to Trujillo again. Trujillo was the first capital of Honduras in the year 1525. It was here that Christopher Columbus landed in 1502 and the pirate William Walker was executed. We stay overnight in Trujillo .

Day 04: Trujillo – Catacamas                                  
Today we enjoy the longest dirt road part during our tour. We will leave the humid climate of the Caribbean coast behind us when riding up the “Sierra de Agalta” mountains through pine forest and reaching the valley of Olancho, the biggest cattle farming area of Honduras. Overnight in Catacamas.

Day 05:  Catacamas – Danli                 
On our way to the southern part of Honduras we have a mix of paved and unpaved roads until we get into Danli, where they make world famous handrolled cigars, because there is much tabacco grown in this area. Overnight in Danli. a.

Day 06:  crossing borders to El Salvador
On our way to the border we pass a couple of majestic volcanoes. We continue our ride on the Panamerican Highway CA 1 passing San Lorenzo at the Golfo de Fonseca. Having crossed the border of El Salvador we turn to the South towards La Union and Intipuca before we reach the  Pacific beaches of Playa el Cuco. Overnight in El Cuco.

Day 07:  From the Pacific Ocean to Perquin
We leave the Pacific behind us and ride into the mountainous Morazan department with the volcano San Miquel on our way. Following the paved road from San Miguel and San Francisco Gotera we enter the town of Perquin from the south. Perquin is surrounded by coffee plantations and green pinegroves and is located close to the honduran border.  Overnight in Perquin.

Day 08: Border Honduras to Gracias      
On a dirt road we will pass the highest mountains from El Salvador to Honduras. This road was the route used to supply the rebels during the El Salvador civil war. Up to 1800m high we enjoy the fantastic view over the region. We will pass the border, pass Macala and get to Gracias – a small attractive mountain town with cobblestone streets and red tile roofs. Overnight in Gracias.

Day 09:  Lago de Yohoa
Depending on weather and road conditions we turn off to Santa Barbara passing a mountainous dirt road to Lago de Yoho splendidly set among tropical vegetation. We will stop at the lake for lunch where many little restaurants offer a beautiful view overlooking the lake. Spend the afternoon just relaxing at the lake. Overnight at Lago de Yohoa.

Day 10: San Pedro Sula
After breakfast we take a trip on a paved road to the highest waterfall of Honduras called „Pulhapanzak” with a magnificient cascade of 40m . It is located in a kind of park with tropical plants and there is a place to swim in the river. In the afternoon we ride back to San Pedro Sula where the tour ends . Overnight in San Pedro Sula

Day 11: Departure
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.

Total Distance :  1800 km / about 250 km dirt road

Per Day : 80 – 300 km

Road Condition :  mostly pavement, dirt and gravel roads

Riding Skills : As we use dual sport motorcycles we mainly keep on paved roads but also ride on dirt roads. We do not ask for Off road riding skills.
