Highlights
In the north coast Garifuna community of Tela, we will familiarize ourselves with the provided Yamaha XT 600E and spend the evening relaxing on the beach. But get revived for the next six exhilarating days! We'll be hitting the pavement - when it's there. We'll visit Punta Sal Marine Park where we can take an optional boat tour through the estuaries and the Pico Bonito Mountain Range with lush valleys and devastating views. We'll ford rivers, snake past jungle waterfalls, Garifuna villages, and the Capiro y Calentura National Park with its magnificent views of coastal Trujillo, the historic first capital of Honduras.

Routing
Day 1: Arrival at   San Pedro Sula
Transfer by car to Tela. We'll stay overnight in Tela in a small port town with sandy beaches and coconut palms. Enjoy the tropical atmosphere of the hotel while given all the information about the tour and getting familiar with the motorcycles. Overnight in  Tela.

Day 2: Tela - La Ceiba
Scenic ride along the beautiful beaches of the Caribbean Sea to the village of Miami, where palm trees frame the coastline. Here is the entrance to the National Park "Punta Sal," created to protect rare and endangered animals like the white-faced monkey, ocelot, and manatee. Optional: We leave the motorcycles behind and take a short boat ride (not included) into the "Laguna De Los Micos" (Lake of the Monkeys) to enjoy the lush vegetation and the wildlife. Back on the paved main road, we travel on to La Ceiba. Arrival late afternoon. Overnight in La Ceiba.
Dirt road: 30km 18,75miles (15km 9,4 miles of sand) Paved road: 100km 62,50miles

Day 3: La Ceiba - Pico Bonito Mountains
A short ride from La Ceiba into the "Pico Bonito" mountains takes us to an impossibly green canyon with jungle scenery. From there we follow a winding dirt road along the "Rio Cangrejal." And on the way back we take a dip in the crystal clear water. This trip offers spectacular views: a waterfall plunging more than 300 feet from the canyon walls and rapids sliding around sculptured granite boulders. Overnight in La Ceiba.
Dirt road: 70km 43,75miles /Paved road: 35km 21,9miles

Day 4: La Ceiba - Trujillo
For a while we stay on the highway to Trujillo before we turn off on a dirt road that winds through vast banana plantations. We will tour a plantation and visit the processing plant ( if possible ) where the bananas are selected, washed and finally packed. Then we continue on the dirt road until we meet the highway to Trujillo. Trujillo was the first capital of Honduras in the year 1525. It was here that Christopher Columbus landed in 1509 and the pirate William Walker was executed. Overnight in Trujillo. Off road: 60km 37,5miles Paved road: 90km 56,25 miles

Day 5: Tour to Santa Fe and Betulia Beach
In the morning we visit colorful villages of the "Garifunas" (black descendants of the African slaves) where life has remained virtually unchanged for centuries. The dirt road passes through many little rivers and during the rainy season we might actually get stuck in the mud! We will have lunch at the comedor "Caballero" in Santa Fe where Pete, a former cook on a cruise liner, will serve the best kingfish, lobster or shrimp. In the afternoon, relax on the beautiful beaches of Trujillo by swimming, snorkeling or just basking in the sun. Overnight in Trujillo
Dirt road: 35km 21,9miles / Paved road: 10km 6,25miles

Day 6: National Park "Capiro y Calentura"
We will visit "Capiro y Calentura" National Park, which offers a great view over the bay of Trujillo. After lunch we return to La Ceiba . In the evening, we'll have dinner in one of the little restaurants down on the beach. Enjoy the magnificent sunset and listen to the Afro-Caribbean music of the Garifunas. Overnight in La Ceiba
Dirt road 68 km / Paved road: 95km

Day 7: Transfer to La Ceiba - Airport
by car and departure to your international flight
or extension of your vacation on the islands :

Roatan / Bay Islands.
